Who has a squirrel?

A colleague, one winter, while taking a morning jog in the park, picked up a frozen squirrel. Why she did this is not clear. Maybe she wanted to make a collar or a fur coat out of it, maybe on the principle that everything will be useful on the farm, I don’t know. So, she brought the frozen animal home and ran to work. Meanwhile, the squirrel thawed out, recovered and began to settle into its new home.
In the middle of the day, the husband of this colleague of ours calls to work and asks if everything is okay with his wife’s head, if there are any oddities or changes in her behavior.
Ah, the following came out. A woman, in the morning, baked pancakes for her beloved husband, who was due to return from a business trip that day, wrote a note - “for you, beloved,” went for a run in the park, brought a squirrel and galloped off to work.
Having recovered, the bun hung pancakes to dry for the winter wherever she could. She was especially careful in the hallway, on the deer antlers, but when her husband entered the house, she got scared and hid. Of course, the man, having seen the design made from pancakes and a note from his wife, began to doubt its adequacy. It must be said that our director gave the woman the day off and sent her home to calm her poor husband down.

Crow is a parodist.

I go to work in the morning. Out of the corner of my eye I see a cat sitting under a birch tree in the front garden, near the entrance. Well, he sits and sits, I move about my business. And I hear the cat meow. But, “meow” from him It turned out kind of strange, rough, hoarse. It’s as if the cat has been smoking since childhood, and yesterday he drank all night, and now he’s asking for a hangover. Of course, I looked back and took a closer look at the striped one. A new “meow” was heard, just as creaky, but still a “meow” and uttered not by a cat, but by a crow sitting on a birch tree and looking at the cat with interest. I even imagined that the impudent bird was smiling slyly and maliciously, mimicking and clearly mocking the cat.
It's a pity that there were no phones with photo cameras back then. The face of the stunned, discouraged and simply astounded cat had to be captured. Words cannot describe it, you had to see it. I don’t know how long the crow teased the striped one, but I laughed all the way to work remembering his face.

Brave puppy.

A puppy appeared in our house. Like all puppies, he loves to play mischief and get into mischief. The husband pacifies him with slippers. It will slap lightly on the back, not very hard and painful, but effective. The kid quickly understood what a slipper was and how it was used. Sometimes it is enough just to show this formidable weapon and the hooligan and mischief maker immediately stops misbehaving.
One day we went to the village store and took the puppy with us. We had just left the gate when the neighbor’s shepherd dog rushed towards us. In principle, she jumped up to us, without much aggression, but our pet immediately ducked into a hole under the fence and darted into the house. Well, of course, we thought, he was scared of the big dog. But it was not there. We look, our puppy is rushing back with slippers in his mouth. True, I couldn’t crawl back through the hole under the fence, my slippers were in the way. But he was very indignant, angry and yapping. He apparently wanted the owner to give the big dog a good spanking with his slippers because it was behaving badly.

Squirrel.

A very brave squirrel, or maybe just impudent, begs people for cookies. He eats them right away, without fear or fear of anyone. Then it turns out that under the roof of the house, this squirrel made a nest for itself and even hatched baby squirrels. But, apparently, the owners who came to their dacha did not particularly treat her like neighbors, although she seemed to receive cookies from them. Whatever it was, the squirrel decided to drag the cubs to another, more secluded place.
P.S. As time has shown, the cubs have grown up in the new place and are living well. Periodically visiting the owners of the dacha and begging for something tasty.
No squirrels were harmed during the filming of the video clip.

Crow parodist 2.

How a crow meows has already been described here, but recently I also witnessed a crow’s parody talent.
In our yard, and probably like in any city yard, the owners walk their little dogs in the morning and evening. And these little dogs love to bark, just like that, at everything that moves, doesn’t move, and just foolishly.
And then one day, returning from work, I observed this picture. A large red cat, noticing a pigeon peacefully “grazing” in the lawn, quietly creeps up to him. The distance is still quite good. The cat periodically stops, tries to be invisible and generally merge with the landscape. In short, all in tension and attention. And, an interested crow is jumping behind him. This continues for some time. And now the cat raises its butt above its body pressed to the ground and prepares for the decisive throw at the bird of the world. At this moment, a crow jumps up to his side and croaks in his ear with all its might. Just not “KAR”, but “GAF”. Exactly like a dog. You should have seen how the cat jumped about a meter from the ground and rushed to the nearest tree to the laughter of people passing by. I think the crow also neighed in its crow language.

Feathered drunk.

Some time ago we noticed this bad behavior in our parrot. He began to chew the grains and throw this porridge into the water. There he also adds pulp from chewed apples or pears. He waits a few days for this canoe to ferment. Then he whips the resulting mash, climbs onto a branch and yells something in a bad voice. Moreover, it makes such sounds that neighbors came to complain more than once. In any case, we have never heard such wild screams. During his binges, this moron also becomes aggressive. It throws itself at the cage if you get close, and with its beak it easily cuts the pencil. Recently, we began to notice that he began to add bark and small twigs to his swill. Cognac, apparently the bastard, is cooking.

Cultured dog.

In my distant childhood, we lived on the same landing with my mother’s brother, that is, my uncle and his family. We often visited each other. Oh, my uncle had a dog, a German shepherd breed, named Caesar. A very smart and trained dog. My mother always kept treats for Caesar, on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator, in his individual bowl.
One day, my uncle came to visit us with Caesar, but my mother and I were so carried away by discussing some problem that I completely forgot about my pet and his treats. Caesar, like a polite dog, waited long and patiently for the treat, reminding of his presence only with mournful sighs. But, after some time, he apparently decided that he wouldn’t get a treat from people who were distracted by conversations that were not relevant at the moment, when the dog was not fed, and he decided to treat himself. He, quietly and modestly, went to the refrigerator. He “scraped” the door with his paw. He pulled out a bowl of goodies with his teeth, put it on the floor, closed the refrigerator and helped himself with gusto.
Well, then, apparently deciding that a cultured and well-mannered dog is the one who “has eaten, clean up after himself,” he took the bowl with his teeth and put it in the sink. Wash it. He was such a smart and cultured dog.

Stories, fabulous and not so, about animals are useful not only for schoolchildren, but also for preschoolers who are starting to read, because in addition to reading skills, they broaden the children’s horizons. You can see examples of texts.

Understanding and memorization are greatly facilitated. Not all children (for various reasons) like to draw. That's why we came up with stories for coloring books: we read the text and color the animal. The site "Non-standard children" wishes you success.

Short stories about animals

A story about a squirrel.

A squirrel lived in an old forest. The squirrel gave birth to a squirrel daughter in the spring.

Once a squirrel and a squirrel were collecting mushrooms for the winter. Suddenly a marten appeared on a nearby tree. She prepared to grab the squirrel. The mother squirrel jumped towards the marten and shouted to her daughter: “Run!”

The squirrel ran away. Finally she stopped. I looked around, and the places were unfamiliar! There are no mother squirrels. What to do?

A squirrel saw a hollow in a pine tree, hid and fell asleep. And in the morning the mother found her daughter.

Greedy squirrel

The builders left about two dozen birch and pine trees near the new school. It turned out to be a small square.

Despite the school noise and din, two squirrels settled in it. The animals were young and agile. If someone appeared below, they immediately flew up to the top of the tree.

Schoolchildren brought nuts to the squirrels. They left treats on a large boulder in the middle of the park. When the children left, the animals came down and fed.

Sometimes hooligans came. They threw stones at the squirrels. But the animals ran away to the treetops. The stones did not reach there.

One day a strange old squirrel appeared in the park. First she ate all the nuts on the stone. The little squirrels also tried to go down for food. But a strange squirrel drove them away.

This happened several times. The young squirrels were starving. They ate their supplies and left the park because of a greedy old squirrel.

A story about an owl

An owl lives in the northern forests. But not an ordinary owl, but a polar one. This owl is white. The paws are shaggy and covered with feathers. Thick feathers protect the bird's legs from frost.

The white owl is not visible in the snow. The owl flies quietly. He will hide in the snow and watch for a mouse. A stupid mouse won't notice.

About the cuckoo

Cuckoo, cuckoo, how many years will I live? - both adults and children ask when they hear the cuckoo’s song.

Let us also listen to her cuckooing. The cuckoo is a cautious bird. To see it, you have to be observant.

The cuckoo is often criticized for laying eggs in the nests of other birds. The cuckoo's adoptive parents feed and educate it, for example, teach it to fly.

Why does the cuckoo do this? Other birds lay all their eggs almost simultaneously and then hatch the chicks. The chicks hatch together and grow together.

The cuckoo lays many small eggs not all at once, but gradually, almost all summer. Therefore, she cannot hatch the chicks herself.

Having laid an egg, the cuckoo takes it in its beak and places it in someone else's nest. The deception is never discovered.

But the cuckoo is very useful. She eats such furry caterpillars that no other bird pecks. Don't hurt the cuckoos!

A story about a moose

The old elk walked through the forest for a long time. He is very tired. The elk stopped and dozed off.

The moose dreamed that he was still a little moose calf. He walks with his mother through the forest. Mom eats branches and leaves. And the elk calf is happily jumping along the path nearby.

Suddenly someone buzzed terribly near my ear. The little elk got scared and ran to his mother. Mom said: “Don’t be afraid. It’s a bumblebee. It doesn’t bite moose calves.”

In a forest clearing, the calf liked the butterflies. At first the elk calf did not notice them. Butterflies sat quietly on the flowers. The elk calf galloped across the clearing. Then the butterflies flew into the air. There were a lot of them, a whole swarm. And one, the most beautiful, sat on the moose calf’s nose.

Far beyond the forest the train whistled. The old elk woke up. He rested. You can move on with your business.

A story about a deer

Deer live in the North. The homeland of deer is called the tundra. Grass, shrubs and gray reindeer moss grow in the tundra. Reindeer moss is food for deer.

Deer walk in herds. There are deer of different ages in the herd. There are old deer and little fawns. Adult deer protect babies from wolves.

Sometimes wolves attack the herd. Then the deer surround the fawns and put their antlers forward. Their horns are sharp. Wolves are afraid of deer antlers.

There is a leader in the herd. This is the strongest deer. All deer obey him. The leader protects the herd. When the herd is resting, the leader finds a tall stone. He stands on a stone and looks in all directions. He will see the danger and blow his trumpet. The deer will get up and move away from trouble.

A story about a fox

At the foot of the mountain there was a round lake. The place was deserted and quiet. There were a lot of fish swimming in the lake. A flock of ducks liked this lake. The ducks made nests and hatched ducklings. They lived like this on the lake all summer.

One day a fox appeared on the shore. The fox was hunting and came across a lake with ducks. The ducklings have already grown up, but have not yet learned to fly. The fox thought it would be easy to catch its prey. But it was not there.

The cunning ducks swam far to the other shore. The fox destroyed the ducks' nests and ran away.

In the Khibiny Mountains in the North you can meet a bear. In the spring the bear is angry because he is hungry. All winter he slept in a den. And winter in the North is long. The bear was hungry. That's why he's angry.

So he came to the lake. He will catch a fish and eat it. He'll drink some water. The lakes in the mountains are clean. The water is fresh and clear.

By mid-summer the bear will have eaten enough and become fat. It will become more good-natured. But you still shouldn't date him. A bear is a wild animal, dangerous.

By autumn, the bear eats everything: fish, berries, mushrooms. Fat under the skin accumulates for hibernation. The fat in the den in winter both feeds and warms it.

There is a cat in our family. His name is Masik. He will soon turn one year old. He is like a member of our family. When we sit down to dinner, he’s right there. He hits the tablecloth with his paw and asks for food. It turns out funny. He loves fish and bread. He also loves it when I play with him. And during the day, if no one is home, he basks on the balcony in the sun. Masik sleeps with me or his older sister Christina.

I love him so much.

My turtle

I have a little turtle living at home. Her name is Dina. We go for a walk with her. She eats fresh grass outside. Then I take it home. She walks around the apartment and looks for a dark corner. When he finds it, he sleeps in it for an hour or two.

I taught her to eat in the kitchen. Dina loves apples, cabbage, soaked bread, and raw meat. Once a week we bathe the turtle in a basin.

This is my turtle.

My favorite rabbit

I have a little rabbit. He is so cute, he has tiny red eyes. He is the most beautiful in the world! When I saw him for the first time, I could not take my eyes off his beauty.

The rabbit never runs away from me, but on the contrary, as soon as he sees me, he immediately asks to be held in my arms. Well, just like my little brother! He is very smart. Likes to eat grass and corn.

I love my bunny!

Bobylev Denis, 7 years old

Kitty Samik

I don’t have any animals at home, but my friend the cat Samson lives with my grandmother in the village. Beautiful, fluffy, black with white spots on the chest.

Usually houses are guarded by dogs, and at my grandmother’s house Samik is the guard. First, he drove all the mice out of all the sheds and out of the basement. And for several years now, not a single mouse! But that is not all. He doesn’t let other people’s cats or dogs into the garden, or the garden, or the yard, and this helps my grandmother! Even if someone approaches the house, Samik begins to meow loudly, and the grandmother already knows that someone stranger has come!

Granny pampers her guard with milk, fish, and sausage. After all, he is so smart! He deserves it!

Baidikov Vladislav

When I was little, we lived in the North in the city of Noyabrsk. Mom, dad and I were at the market and bought two rabbits. One was white and the other was gray. I was very happy! We bought food for them. They lived in a cage on the balcony. I fed them carrots and cabbage every day and cleaned their cage. I really loved rabbits and played with them.

When we left the North, we were unable to take the rabbits on the long journey. They were afraid that they would die. Mom took a photo of me with them. I think about them often and miss them.

/ Animals of the Arctic

ARCTIC ICE

It seems incredible that where the temperature does not rise above - 10 o C, Arctic animals can live and reproduce. And yet, even the coldest and most inhospitable parts of the Earth are inhabited. The fact is that some animals have adapted in a special way to retain their own body heat. For example, the body of penguins under their plumage is thickly covered with warm down, and the skin of polar bears is very thick and waterproof. In addition, all polar animals have a dense layer of fat under their skin.

Life for animals in Antarctica is possible only on the coast. The interior of the continent is uninhabited.

Polar bear.

At the end of autumn, a female polar bear digs a den in the snow. In December - January, as a rule, two bear cubs are born, but only in the spring will they leave the den for the first time.

A polar bear cub is born very small, blind, deaf and completely defenseless. Therefore, he lives with his mother for two years. The skin of this bear is very dense, waterproof and absolutely white, thanks to which it easily finds shelter among the whiteness of the surrounding ice. He swims remarkably well - this is facilitated by the membrane that connects the pads of his paws. The polar bear is the largest predator in the world.

A polar bear usually weighs between 150 and 500 kilograms. The mass of some representatives exceeds 700 kilograms.

Pinnipeds.

Various species of pinnipeds live on the cold land and endless ice floes drifting in the Arctic; these include fur seals, seals and walruses. By origin, these are terrestrial animals that have mastered the marine environment: in the course of evolution, their body has adapted to life in water. Unlike cetaceans, pinnipeds were only partially modified by this adaptation. So the front paws of fur seals turned into flippers, on which they can lean on land to raise the upper body; seals learned to move on the ground by crawling on their bellies.

Pinnipeds have huge nostrils, and in a short time they can inhale the amount of air needed to stay underwater for about 10 minutes.

Pinnipeds feed not only on fish, but also on crustaceans, mollusks and krill, which consists of tiny shrimp.

Fur seal similar to a sea lion, but has a thicker skin and a shorter and sharper snout. The male is much larger than the female and can weigh four times as much.

Sea Elephant. The largest pinniped species in the world: the weight of a male can reach 3,500 kilograms. It is easily distinguished from the female by the swelling on its head, similar to a short trunk, from which it gets its name.

Sea leopard. With its spotted skin, this seal resembles the predator of the cat family, from which it borrowed its name. The leopard seal is very aggressive and can sometimes even eat a fellow seal if it is smaller.

Walrus.

This long-tusked mammal lives in the Arctic seas, making short seasonal migrations. A male walrus is huge: it can weigh 1,500 kilograms, while a female's weight rarely reaches 1,000 kilograms. The walrus has a massive, wrinkled body covered with sparse bristles.

The strong voice of the walrus resembles both the roar of a lion and the lowing of a bull; while sleeping, on ice or in water, he snores loudly. He can relax for hours, lounging in the sun. The walrus is irritable and obstinate, but he will not hesitate to come to the aid of his brother, who is being attacked by hunters.

Long tusks are indispensable in the life of a walrus: he uses them to defend himself from enemies and to drill into the seabed; With the help of tusks, the walrus climbs onto the shore and moves along the ice floe or ground. The length of the fangs of larger representatives reaches one meter!

Little walruses are nursed by their mother for two years, and for the next two years they remain under her protection.

Under the skin of the walrus there is a thick layer of fat, which serves as both protection from the cold and a reserve reserve in case of hunger.

Penguins.

Penguins- these are birds, but their wings are not suitable for flight: they are too short. With the help of wings, penguins swim, like fish with the help of fins. Penguins are found only in the southern hemisphere. They live in large colonies on land, but some species can make long migrations in the open sea.

As a rule, penguins lay only one egg. Baby penguins find refuge from the cold in the lower folds of their parent's abdomen. The plumage of penguin chicks is usually dark brown; over time, they acquire the characteristic black and white coloration of adults.

Emperor penguin colonies sometimes number 300 thousand individuals.

/ Interesting facts about animals of savannas and prairies

Among the grasses of the savannah. In the savannah there are periods of drought when there is a shortage of food. Then numerous herds of animals go in search of more favorable conditions. These migrations can last for weeks, and only the hardiest animals manage to reach their goal. The weaker ones are doomed to die.

The savannah climate favors the growth of tall and lush grass. Trees, on the contrary, are rare here.

The baobab is not a very tall tree, but its trunk diameter can reach 8 meters.

Buffalo.

The African buffalo, along with the hippopotamus, is considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. Indeed, if a buffalo is wounded or feels danger to itself or its cubs, it does not hesitate to attack the aggressor and kill him with its powerful horns. Even the lion tries to avoid meeting him, as he is not sure of the outcome of the battle. Therefore, only buffaloes that have strayed from the herd, or old and sick animals that are unable to defend themselves, are attacked by predators.

Zebra.

The zebra skin is original and easily recognizable. At first glance, all zebras seem the same, but in fact, each animal has its own stripe pattern, like human fingerprints. Countless attempts have been made to domesticate zebras (domesticate them like horses), but they always end in failure. The zebra does not tolerate riders or other loads on its rump. She is very shy and difficult to approach even in nature reserves.

Zebras lack horns and other means of defense and flee from predators. Once surrounded, they defend themselves with their teeth and hooves.

How to spot predators? Zebras' vision is not very sharp, so they often graze next to other animals, such as giraffes or ostriches, which are able to notice the approach of predators earlier.

A pursued zebra can travel at speeds of 80 kilometers per hour, but not for long.

The stripes on a zebra's skin can be used to identify different types of zebra. The stripes on the croup are especially significant in this sense.

Leo prefers open spaces, where he finds coolness in the shade of rare trees. For hunting, it is better to have a wide view in order to notice herds of grazing herbivores from afar and develop a strategy on how best to approach them unnoticed. Outwardly, it is a lazy beast that dozes and sits around for a long time. Only when the lion is hungry and forced to pursue herds of herbivores or when he must defend his territory does he emerge from his stupor.

Lions do not hunt alone, unlike cheetahs and tigers. As a result, all members of the lion family live together for a long time and the grown lion cubs are not expelled from it, unless the conditions in the hunting territory become critical.

Usually a group of females goes hunting, but males rarely join them. The hunters surround the prey, hiding in the tall grass. When the animal notices the danger, it panics and tries to escape at a gallop, but most often falls into the clutches of other hidden lionesses that it has not noticed.

A characteristic feature of a lion is a thick mane in males, which is not found in other representatives of the cat family.

A lioness usually gives birth to two cubs. To become adults, they need about two years - all this time they adopt the experience of their parents.

A lion's claws can reach 7 cm.

Giraffe.

In an effort to survive, all animals have evolved to provide their species with sufficient food. The giraffe can feed on tree leaves that other herbivores cannot reach: thanks to its six-meter height, it is taller than all other animals. A giraffe can take food from the ground, as well as drink water, but to do this, it must spread its front legs wide apart in order to bend over. In this position, he is very vulnerable to predators, because he cannot immediately rush to flight.

The giraffe has a very long, thin and soft tongue, adapted for plucking acacia leaves. The lips, especially the upper ones, also serve this purpose. The giraffe picks off leaves growing at a height of two to six meters.

The most favorite food of giraffes is tree leaves, especially acacia; its thorns apparently do not bother the animal.

Giraffes live in herds, divided into two groups: one contains females with cubs, the other contains males. To win the right to become leaders of the herd, males fight by striking their heads with their necks.

When running, the giraffe is not very fast or agile. When running away from an enemy, he can only count on a speed of 50 kilometers per hour.

Cheetah.

The cheetah's "secret weapon" is its flexible body with a strong spine, curved like the arch of a bridge, and powerful clawed paws that allow it to rest firmly on the ground. This is the fastest-footed animal of the African savannah. No one can imagine an animal running faster than a cheetah. In short moments, it reaches speeds of over 100 kilometers per hour, and if it didn’t get tired quickly, it would be the most feared predator in Africa.

The cheetah prefers to live in small groups of two to eight to nine individuals. Typically such a group consists of one family.

Unlike other members of the cat family, the cheetah's claws never retract, just like dogs. This feature allows the animal not to slip on the ground when running; Only the claw of the thumb does not touch the ground.

The cheetah climbs trees and surveys the savanna from above to discover herds of grazing herbivores that could become its prey.

The skin of a cheetah is not always covered with spots; sometimes they merge, forming stripes, like the king cheetah.

The long tail serves as a rudder - it can quickly change the direction of running, which is necessary when chasing a victim.

Elephant.

The African elephant was threatened with extinction both because of hunting, to which it became a victim at the beginning of the 20th century, since there was a great demand for ivory products (from tusks), and because of important changes made by man in its habitat. Now elephants live mainly in giant national parks, where they are studied by zoologists and protected by guards. Unfortunately, this is not enough to stop elephants from being killed by poachers. The situation is different with the Indian elephant, which has never been in danger because man has used it for various jobs for centuries.

The African elephant is different from the Indian elephant. It is larger, its ears are larger, and its tusks are much longer. In Southeast Asia, elephants are domesticated and used for various jobs. African elephants are resistant to domestication due to their more independent nature.

Like the giraffe, the elephant prefers to eat tree leaves, which it plucks from the branches with its trunk. It happens that he knocks down an entire tree to the ground to get food.

Tusks and trunks are two of the elephants' miraculous survival tools. The elephant uses its tusks to protect itself from predators and uses them during drought to dig up the ground in search of water. With a very mobile trunk, it picks off leaves and collects water, which it then puts into its mouth. The elephant loves water very much and, at the first opportunity, climbs into a pond to freshen up. He swims great.

The elephant willingly hides in the shade because its huge body has difficulty cooling down. Its huge ears serve this purpose, with which it rhythmically fans itself to cool itself.

Just as children hold their mother’s hand, so baby elephants walk holding the elephant’s tail with their proboscis.

Ostrich.

The natural environment in which the ostrich lives determined the final adaptability of this bird, the largest of all: the ostrich's mass exceeds 130 kilograms. The long neck increases the ostrich's height to two meters. A flexible neck and excellent vision allow him to notice danger from afar from this height. The long legs give the ostrich the ability to run at speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour, usually fast enough to escape predators.

The ostrich prefers open spaces where it can see everything from afar and there are no obstacles for running.

Ostriches do not live alone, but in groups of varying numbers. While the birds are looking for food, at least one stands guard and looks around the area to spot enemies, primarily cheetahs and lions.

The ostrich's eyes are surrounded by long eyelashes, which protect them from both the African sun and dust raised by the wind.

Ostriches build a nest in a small depression, digging it in sandy soil and covering it with something soft. The female incubates the eggs during the day because her gray coloration blends well with her surroundings; the male, with predominantly black feathers, incubates at night.

Females lay from three to eight eggs in a common nest, and each of them takes turns incubating the eggs in turn. One egg weighs more than one and a half kilograms and has a very strong shell. Sometimes it takes a baby ostrich a whole day to break the shell and hatch from the egg.

The ostrich's beak is short, flat and very strong. It is not specialized for any particular food, but serves to pluck grass and other vegetation and grab insects, small mammals and snakes.

Rhinoceros.

This huge pachyderm lives in both Africa and South and Southeast Asia. There are two species of rhinoceroses in Africa, distinct from the Asian ones. African rhinoceroses have two horns and are adapted to habitats characterized by large spaces with very few trees. The Asian rhinoceros has only one horn and prefers to live in forest thickets. These animals are on the verge of extinction because they are ruthlessly hunted by poachers for their horns, which are in high demand in some countries.

Despite its mass, the African rhinoceros is very mobile and can make sharp turns while running.

A female rhinoceros usually gives birth to one calf every two to four years. The baby stays with his mother for a long time, even when he grows up and becomes independent. Within an hour, a newborn calf can follow its mother on its own legs; moreover, it usually walks either in front of her or on the side. It feeds on mother's milk for a year, and during this time its weight increases from 50 to 300 kilograms.

Male rhinoceroses, like many other animals, fight for the right to become the leader. At the same time, they use the horn as a stick, that is, they hit with the side, and not with the tip. It may happen that during a single combat the horn breaks, but then it grows back, albeit very slowly.

A rhinoceros's eyesight is poor; it sees only close up, like a nearsighted person. But he has the finest sense of smell and hearing; he can smell food or an enemy from afar.

Ro / Interesting facts about animals of the jungle and rainforest

In the Amazon forest.

Tropical forests are characterized by lush vegetation; under trees with tall trunks, despite the fact that their crowns let in little light, a dense undergrowth grows. It has high humidity - precipitation is frequent here and is conducive to the development of plants of any type. Such an environment is almost ideal for supporting the life of countless animals that find food there in abundance. Naturally, this environment is especially favorable for small and medium-sized animals, which, even more often, can move with dexterity.

Pelican.

This bizarre bird with a distinctive beak is found on all continents and, depending on its habitat, has slight differences in shape and size. Its most typical habitat is sea coasts and lakes. It feeds on aquatic animals, mainly fish. These birds fish in a special way at low tide. They gather in groups and beat the water together with their wings, scaring the fish and forcing it to swim towards the shore, where it is clearly visible and its maneuverability is difficult. The fish become easy prey for the pelicans; they fill their beaks with it, on the lower part of which there are extensible throat sacs. The prey is taken to the nest and calmly eaten there.

Pelican- a very large bird, reaching 1.8 meters in length, and its wingspan is up to 3 meters. In search of food they are able to dive to depths.

Pelicans- birds are social, live in numerous colonies, get food together and build nests.

The American white pelican lives most of the year in the southern United States, Mexico and Central America. During the breeding season, birds living in more northern areas move to the south, where the climate is milder and more favorable for the development of chicks. The plumage of pelicans is almost completely white, with only light yellow spots on the chest and wings.

The pelican's nest is a bulky structure made of reeds, dead wood and feathers. When adult birds bring food to the nest for their chicks, they pull it out of the parents’ throats with their beaks, already half-digested, which makes it easier for them to digest the food.

The female lays two or three bluish or yellowish eggs and incubates them for about 30 days. The chicks are born completely naked. The plumage grows over the next 10 days. The female is slightly smaller in size than the male.

Sloths so named for the extreme slowness of their movements, reminiscent of movements in slow motion filming. The constantly wet skin of sloths serves as a breeding ground for microscopic algae, which is why the animals' fur acquires a greenish tint, making them almost invisible among the foliage.

Jaguar.

An animal similar to a leopard, but larger; It is also distinguished by a special pattern on the skin: ring-shaped dark spots, inside of which there are smaller specks. Jaguars hunt alone and mainly on the ground, although they crawl well in trees and swim. Having caught prey, the predator usually hides it somewhere in a secret place and then eats it piece by piece.

Jaguars give birth to two or three young. Like all predators, they teach their growing babies to hunt.

Tapir.

The most common South American species is land tapir, lives near bodies of water. It swims well and can cross fairly wide rivers; Sometimes tapirs even dive to get the stems of aquatic plants that serve as food for them.

The dense foliage of the Amazon forest is home to a wide variety of wild birds. Here stroll the red-brown hoatzin and the crested serima, whose legs are better suited for running than wings for flight. Quezal builds a nest inside a termite mound and the termites do not cause him any disturbance. The eagle owl, a nocturnal predator with a long crest on its head, lives in the most impassable places, and therefore ornithologists have not yet been able to figure out its habits.
This tiny bird (size from 5.7 to 21.6 cm; weight from 1.6 to 20 g) with a long curved beak is capable of flapping its wings so often that it manages to hang almost motionless in the air, sucking nectar from a flower. This is the only bird in the world that can fly backwards.

Swordbeak Hummingbird. When fluttering, this bird makes more than 50 wing beats per second. So it can freeze motionless in the air or fly at speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour. The swordbill's beak is very long and straight, whereas other hummingbirds have a curved beak.

I've been in the hospital for about a week. Every day parents come and tell us what is happening in the world. I found out that my cat has not come home for the second day. They allowed me to take him into the room.

Mom bought a vacuum cleaner that crawls on its own like a turtle on the carpet. Naturally, all my cats liked this thing and started hunting. At night I wake up from the beeping of the vacuum cleaner, turn on the flashlight and... slowly, with dignity, a cat rides past me on a vacuum cleaner, with the rest trailing behind it. He looked at me with complete contempt, and the whole procession left for the kitchen. They seem to be evolving! Now I am demonstrating this phenomenon to my friends under the name “Satan’s Ball.”

History 4.

We lived together with a cat in a rented apartment. There he loved to yell at the top of his lungs at night for me to come up and open the door for him, either to the toilet, or to his room, or just to greet me. We recently moved to a new apartment where there is not a single door. I thought that I would finally get some sleep, but nothing. This weirdo started yelling on the first night. I woke up, went to the doorframe, which had no door, and pretended to open an imaginary door, and the cat walked in pathetically. He was waiting for me to open an imaginary door for him at three in the morning!

My friend has a huge private house, where she decided to celebrate her wedding. It's time to give gifts. My husband and I approached the newlyweds and just opened my mouth when I saw silent horror on the bride’s face. She turned around and screamed - the bride’s favorite cat, apparently deciding that she was also due a gift, brought a field mouse with her in her teeth. Imagine her disappointment when, instead of enthusiastic exclamations, she heard frightened screams!

History 8.

A year ago we noticed someone running around in the kitchen and squeaking. It turned out it was a mouse. We decided to give our fat cat the opportunity to resolve the situation himself. Alas and ah... He stubbornly pretended that the situation in the kitchen was quite good. We decided that since his natural instincts were swollen with fat, then let him get hungry and destroy the mouse. We locked him in the kitchen for the night. An hour and a half later we hear that it’s caught and is eating, but there’s just a crunch. We look into the kitchen, and it turns out he jumped onto the cabinet, opened the bread bin and is sitting there gnawing on a loaf of bread.

But since Johnny (that’s the dog’s name) doesn’t even eat what she gives, I call her on the phone, she turns on the speakerphone and says: “Johnny, you can!” And only then does he begin to eat. Smart dog.

History 10.

I began to notice that someone was stealing cigarettes. She sinned against everyone, but no one confessed. One fine day, sitting in the kitchen, out of the corner of my eye I noticed how my rat crawled out of the cage, climbed onto the table, deftly pulled out a cigarette from the pack and dived under the sofa. I run into the room, move the sofa aside and see her carefully stuffing a cigarette under the baseboard. There were already 10 cigarettes there. My caring one. I don't smoke anymore.
