Ringer's solution is a drug that is used to restore electrolyte balance in cases of shock, as well as in case of large blood loss.

Indications for use

  • Collapse Development
  • State of shock
  • When metabolic acidosis occurs that accompanies increased excretion body fluids
  • In case of injury, frostbite or burns
  • If there is an imbalance of electrolytes that occurs due to diarrhea, prolonged vomiting, poisoning, or the development of an intestinal infection
  • During the detection of intestinal fistula and intestinal obstruction
  • With the development of peritonitis
  • When performing plasmaphoresis for medicinal purposes.

The drug can also be used for inhalation to eliminate signs of rhinitis.

Composition and release form

The solution (1000 ml) contains sodium chloride, calcium chloride and potassium chloride, their mass fraction in the medicine is 8.6 g; 0.33 g; 0.3 g respectively. Ringer's solution also contains:

  • Sodium hydroxide
  • Prepared water
  • Hydrochloric acid.

The colorless injection solution is dispensed in polyethylene bottles of 250 ml and 500 ml; there are 10 bottles inside the pack. The drug is also sold in glass bottles of 200 ml and 400 ml, the packaging can hold 1, 15 or 28 fl.

Medicinal properties

The INN of the drug does not match trade name. Ringer's solution helps replenish excessive fluid loss, participates in the detoxification process, and helps normalize electrolyte balance. Quite quickly, but briefly, it increases the volume of blood circulating in the body due to its rapid release into the extravascular space.

Ringer's solution is capable of restoring blood volume for about 40 minutes; this must be taken into account during emergency medical care.

The detoxification effect of drugs manifests itself due to the rapid dilution and increase in the volume of circulating blood, as a result of which the concentration of toxic substances in the blood decreases.

The daily dose for children is 5-10 ml/kg, the rate of administration is 30-60 drops/min, in case of shock, 20-30 ml/kg is initially administered. The course of treatment is 3-5 days. During therapeutic plasmapheresis, it is administered in a volume 2 times greater than the volume removed (1.2-2.4 l), in case of severe hypovolemia - in combination with colloid solutions. The maximum volume of injected solution is 3 l/day.

Side effects

Overhydration, hypokalemia, allergic reactions.

Overdose

In case of overdose, an imbalance of water and electrolytes may occur (hypervolemia, hypernatremia, hyperkalemia, hypercalcemia, hyperchloremia) and acid-base balance. In case of overdose, in most cases, it is enough to interrupt the administration.

special instructions

In the case of rapid administration of a large volume, it is necessary to monitor the acid-base status and electrolyte concentration. A change in blood pH leads to a redistribution of K+ (a decrease in pH leads to an increase in the content of K+ ions in the blood serum). Freezing the drug, provided the container remains sealed, is not a contraindication to the use of the drug. If the contents of the container become cloudy, do not use. When combining with other drugs, it is necessary to visually monitor compatibility.

Waiting for the birth of a child is a wonderful time, which for a number of reasons can be darkened feeling unwell and health problems of the expectant mother. Infusions are often used to correct conditions that are dangerous for a pregnant woman and her child. Below we will talk about which droppers and in what cases are most often prescribed to pregnant women.

Droppers for toxicosis during pregnancy

Unpleasant, but seemingly harmless, the notorious early toxicosis of pregnant women is not so harmless. Moderate to severe severity of this condition is characterized by nausea and vomiting 5-20 times a day. Consequence frequent vomiting is dehydration, metabolic disorders, decreased blood pressure, constipation. A pregnant woman can lose up to 10 percent of her original body weight. The lack of treatment for pronounced early toxicosis leads to a lack of nutrients supplied to the embryo, which is especially bad in the early stages of pregnancy, when the organs of the unborn child are formed.

Droppers for uterine tone during pregnancy

It is worth noting that abroad the phrase “hypertonicity of the uterus” means a rare and dangerous complication in childbirth. There is nothing terrible about uterine hypertonicity in the meaning that domestic gynecologists put into this diagnosis. Uterus - muscular organ, which by definition must be in good shape, otherwise pregnancy is impossible. Pressure from an abdominal ultrasound sensor and active fetal movement can provoke an increase in uterine tone. There is no need to correct the tone detected on ultrasound or expressed in slight stretching of the abdomen.

Obstetricians in the post-Soviet space have a different view of uterine tone. They often offer pregnancy-preserving therapy, including infusions.

Droppers when there is a threat to the health of the fetus and the risk of miscarriage

Detachment of the ovum, bleeding, problems with blood flow that began earlier due date contractions - all this can lead to very disastrous consequences and requires medical intervention.

Droppers for late toxicosis of pregnant women

Preeclampsia - dangerous to life and health expectant mother and fetal condition that occurs in the second half of pregnancy. It is observed in every sixth pregnant woman. Typical symptoms gestosis is swelling, including hidden edema, manifested as severe weight gain, high blood pressure and the appearance of protein in the urine.

pharmachologic effect

Ringer's solution promotes detoxification, replenishes fluid loss, and also restores electrolytic balance in various states of shock and blood loss. The drug replenishes the BCC (circulating blood volume).

The agent very quickly enters the extravascular space, so it should be borne in mind that the latter effect is short-lived, lasting from 30 to 40 minutes. The detoxification effect of the drug is based on the effect of increasing the volume and thinning of the blood, which leads to a decrease in the concentration of toxic substances in it.

special instructions

In the case of rapid administration of a large volume, it is necessary to monitor the acid-base status and electrolyte concentration. A change in blood pH leads to a redistribution of K+ (a decrease in pH leads to an increase in the content of K+ ions in the blood serum). Freezing the drug, provided the container remains sealed, is not a contraindication to the use of the drug. If the contents of the container become cloudy, do not use. When combining with other drugs, it is necessary to visually monitor compatibility.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, it is used in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the possible risk to the fetus. You should refrain from breastfeeding while using the drug due to the lack of relevant clinical data.

In childhood

Daily dose for children: 5 – 10 ml/kg, rate of administration: 30 – 60 drops/min; for shock dehydration, 20 – 30 ml/kg is initially administered.
