Dimetindene eliminates allergy symptoms without affecting functionality ciliated epithelium nasal mucosa. Phenylephrine constricts blood vessels, reduces swelling, and eliminates the symptoms of a runny nose. Additional substances enhance the effect of active components.

Vibrocil is prescribed to newborns up to 12 months in the following cases:

  • Acute runny nose of bacterial, viral and allergic origin;
  • Vasomotor runny nose;

The decision to prescribe the drug to infants is made by the pediatrician.

Method of application

Allergic rhinitis often occurs in infants under 1 year of age. This disease is significant even for an adult patient, and therefore for a newborn it is a difficult ordeal. After all, the baby cannot independently clear the nose of mucus, which is why breathing is impaired, and this threatens oxygen starvation and slower growth.

In some cases, body temperature rises and symptoms arise. Therefore, it is necessary to promptly identify and eliminate the symptoms of the disease.

Children under 1 year of age suffer more severely from rhinitis due to the fact that they still have very narrow nostrils. For this reason, it is impossible to use sprays and gels.

Vibrocil for children up to one year will help eliminate allergic rhinitis. If you follow the dosage, the combined drug is absolutely safe for the child. Even one drop will clear the nasal cavity of mucus and normalize breathing.

Dosage medicine for infants – 1 drop in each nostril three times in 24 hours. Drops are used to treat the nasal mucosa before feeding. The therapeutic course lasts 1 week, then you need to take a break. When too long-term use there is a risk of drug-induced runny nose(disorder of the nasal mucosa, which can only be eliminated with the help of vasoconstrictor drugs).

Stages of administering nasal drops:

  1. The child lies on his back after cleaning the nasal passages with saline solution.
  2. Turn his head to the right, drop the medicine into the right nostril, and close it.
  3. After 2 minutes, repeat the procedure for the left nasal passage.

For the smallest children, you can use cotton wool pads soaked in the solution.

special instructions

In some cases, Vibrocil cannot be used to treat infants:

  • Hypersensitivity to active components or additional substances.
  • Heart disease, persistent increase blood pressure and other serious illnesses.
  • Chronic runny nose, which provoked a decrease in the sensitivity of the nasal mucosa.
  • Diabetes.
  • Thyroid dysfunction.

The active components of the drug almost do not penetrate into the blood, and therefore have minimal effect on the body. After using the drops, the following may occur: negative reactions: burning, dryness, sneezing.

If the dosage or frequency of administration is violated, there is a risk of side effects:

  • Increased frequency of myocardial contractions;
  • Arterial hypertension;
  • Sleep disorders;
  • Headache;
  • Nausea.

In case of overdose there are digestive disorders, increased body temperature, violation heart rate. There is a risk of pulmonary edema and depression nervous system. In some cases, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain occur.

Vibrocil is prohibited from being combined with monoamine oxidase inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants and antihypertensive drugs.

Thus, Vibrocil in the form of drops is allowed to be used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis in children under 1 year of age. The drug gently and effectively eliminates the symptoms of the disease without disturbing normal work ciliated epithelium. However, you can take the medicine only after the doctor’s permission and the diagnosis has been clarified. To avoid negative consequences– adhere to the treatment regimen determined for you by your pediatrician.

Vibrocil cold drops are a typical vasoconstrictor. For a common runny nose caused by ARVI or hypothermia, Vibrocil works in the same way as other drugs in this group: it temporarily eliminates swelling and nasal congestion, normalizes the amount of mucus secreted, and allows the patient to take a little break from constant nasal congestion.

But on by and large Vibrocil is not a cure for a runny nose. It does not eliminate the causes of the disease and, therefore, does not help get rid of it. All that these drops can achieve is to temporarily relieve the symptoms of a runny nose. However, with constant and long-term use, the effectiveness of the product decreases: already on the second or third day of use, a reduction in the time of action of the drops is noted, and if used for too long, Vibrocil itself can lead to the development of drug-induced rhinitis.

Main feature and competitive advantage Vibrocila has the ability to temporarily stop the manifestation of allergic rhinitis, which allows it to be used for almost any form of runny nose.

On a note

Vibrocil children's cold drops are not produced and have never been commercially available. Simple Vibrocil drops are called children's drops because their effect is milder compared to the effect of Naphthyzin or Galazolin.

Manufacturer: Novartis Consumer Health S.A., Switzerland

Price as of the beginning of 2015: 300 rubles per 15 ml bottle

The most commonly used form of Vibrocil by adults is a spray.

Composition of Vibrocil drops and the effect of its components

Main active ingredients Vibrocil:

  1. Phenylephrine, a sympathomimetic drug that has local vasoconstrictor effect;
  2. Dimetindene is an antiallergic agent that inhibits the action of histamine.

It is phenylephrine that is responsible for the fact that when treating the mucous membrane with Vibrocil, swelling quickly subsides, blood circulation is normalized and the amount of mucus released decreases.

This effect lasts approximately 4-5 hours, after which the nasal mucosa may swell again and Vibrocil instillation must be repeated.

A special pipette in a bottle of the product makes it easier to instill in the nose

Dimetindene in drops for the runny nose Vibrocil serves specifically to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Even with continued contact with the allergen, after instilling Vibrocil into the nose for several hours, the signs of a runny nose disappear. This action is especially useful in cases where a person is allergic to a rare allergen.

Cigarette smoke is one of the most famous allergens

“My daughter suffered so much for six months, they probably didn’t know what to do. She has a chalk allergy, and a very severe one at that. There was nothing like that at school, I reacted normally to everything. And I went to college, and it just took it apart. In the evening everything is fine with her at home, and in the morning too. But he comes to the institute, enters the classroom, and begins. Immediately snot, tears, sneezing, after five minutes she has to leave the couple. I drove around like this for a few days and went to the doctor. What can you do here? The doctor prescribed antihistamines for a while, but warned that they should not be used constantly. But special nasal drops worked. At first, Vibrocil was dripped, they help a lot, but they cannot be used constantly. Then we tried Nazaval. They work well in combination. Before the institute, she sprays her nose with Nazaval, and if at the end of the day she begins to disassemble, she uses Vibrocil. And so it lasts. And he goes outside and everything goes away.”

Tatyana Igorevna, Moscow

Vibrocil can only briefly relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis

But it is important to understand that even after relief from instillation, the causes of a runny nose do not disappear. Therefore, in case of chronic runny nose, Vibrocil, although it will give a temporary effect, is generally useless: after the permissible period of use has expired, the disease will return again.

Additionally, Vibrocil includes:

  1. Sorbitol is a sweetener in case drops get into the throat;
  2. Benzalkonium is an antimicrobial and antiviral agent;
  3. Lavender oil, which provides a recognizable aroma of the product;
  4. Water and auxiliary ingredients.

Lavender oil is a common ingredient in many nasal products.

Together, all these tools provide nice smell and the taste of the product, and therefore Vibrocil drops for a runny nose are quite easy to use in children.

The main purpose of using Vibrocil is to alleviate the patient’s condition while other methods and means eliminate the causes of the runny nose. For common ARVI home treatment sometimes it is enough - in 4-5 days the illness goes away and the runny nose disappears, and Vibrocil is stopped. You can expect to cure anyone with Vibrocil chronic runny nose pointless.

Instructions for using the product for a runny nose

Vibrocil cold drops are used for all types of rhinitis, except medicinal rhinitis.

You can bury Vibrocil in your nose in any position - standing, sitting or lying down. When instilling drops in a sitting or standing position, the head should be thrown back and after putting the drops into the nose, keep it in this position for about 30 seconds.

Before using nose drops, you need to blow your nose thoroughly.

For children over 6 years old and adults, 3-4 drops are instilled into each nostril at a time. Children from 1 year to 6 years old can instill 1-2 drops, children under one year old - only 1 drop.

Exceed indicated dosages not allowed: in large quantities Vibrocil can cause systemic action, in which the vessels begin to narrow not only in the nose, but also in other organs, which can lead to serious consequences.

You can do no more than 4 instillations of Vibrocil per day. If it requires more frequent use of the drug, it means that its effectiveness is already decreasing and the functioning of the mucous membrane is disrupted. In such a situation, it is necessary to stop taking the drug.

Characteristic signs of an allergic rhinitis: watery eyes, an irritated nose and an abundance of snot

The course of taking Vibrocil drops should not last more than 7 days. If after this period the runny nose has not stopped, it means it turns into chronic form, and it needs to be treated with completely different methods.

On a note

Vibrocil is also available in other dosage forms - gel and spray for the common cold. The gel has not yet gained popularity due to the unfamiliarity of this form, and the spray is used even more often than drops. When used as a spray for the common cold, Vibrocil allows you to treat the mucous membrane more completely and thoroughly than drops, and the effect of its use is higher.

Contraindications and side effects

Clear contraindications to taking Vibrocil are:

  1. Pregnancy and period breastfeeding. At this time, Vibrocil only in exceptional cases may be prescribed by your attending physician.
  2. Lack of effect from using others vasoconstrictor drops. This is a sign of drug-induced rhinitis, and taking Vibrocil with it will only worsen the situation.
  3. Concurrent treatment with MAO inhibitors or their use during the previous two weeks before using Vibrocil.
  4. Ozena.

For children under 2-3 years of age, Vibrocil is prescribed by a doctor; at older ages, it can be used independently in strict accordance with the instructions.

Vibrocil can only be used as prescribed by a doctor for:

  1. Atherosclerosis and arrhythmia, high blood pressure;
  2. Diseases thyroid gland;
  3. Diabetes mellitus;
  4. Hypersensitivity to sympathomimetics.

There are practically no side effects when Vibrocil is used correctly. Only sometimes can a burning sensation be felt in the nose immediately after instilling the drops.

The main charm of Vibrocil is the softness of its action. It is less likely to lead to addiction and does not “dry” the mucous membrane as much as other means. That is why it is also called children's drops, and unlike Naphthyzin, it can be successfully used for children of any age, including infants.

When treating a runny nose caused by ARVI or bacterial infection, Vibrocil can be replaced with Otrivin - it is used in almost the same way and has a similar effect. At allergic rhinitis You can replace Vibrocil drops with Nazaval, which is safer.

Also, for allergic rhinitis, practically the same effect as Vibrocil will be provided by drops in the nose. eye drops Oftophenazole.

“In twenty years I’ve probably tried everything vasoconstrictor drops, which only exist and were on sale. Now I always have two products on my shelf - Nazivin and Vibrocil. The first is more powerful, it helps when I need to quickly return to normal breathing. The second is milder, and I only use it before bed, when I feel like my nose is stuffy. But in general I try to do without them. This way, a runny nose always goes away faster.”

Video: When to use vasoconstrictor drops in children

Almost all children get sick periodically - an indisputable fact. And most of these diseases are characterized by a symptom that causes considerable discomfort to the patient - a runny nose. In addition, it occurs not only as a consequence of a cold. After all, many bacterial and viral infections The nasopharynx area is one of the first to be affected. Among other things, now most children have an allergy to something, and the most common manifestation of this is rhinitis. Therefore, many parents are wondering which anti-runny nose drug is best for their baby. The maximum effect in treatment can be achieved by using Vibrocil for children, a drug that we will consider here in more detail.

A child's body is much less protected from a runny nose than an adult. This is explained not only by the features immune system child, but also the size of the nasal passages. Since the passages in children are wider and shorter, it is much easier for pathogens and irritants to settle on the mucous membrane and develop vigorous activity there, which is why in some children with weakened immunity and hypersensitivity to allergens, rhinitis takes a chronic form, leading to a complication in the form of inflammation of the adenoids .

A runny nose has its effect harmful influence not only on the nasopharyngeal cavity, but also on the general condition of a person. Children under one year old suffer the most from rhinitis, since their discharge gets into the throat, starting a chain of other diseases. An older child also suffers, because often a runny nose makes it difficult to fall asleep, the body gets little rest, and as a result, the protective mechanisms weaken.

You can get rid of the symptom with the help of two types of medications - those that constrict blood vessels and those that treat the cause itself. In the first case, the runny nose is not cured, but simply disappears for a while. These drugs stimulate reflex contraction of blood vessels and relieve swelling, and some, in addition, reduce mucus secretion. The latter are aimed at eliminating the causative agents of the disease, but do not provide an immediate vasodilating effect.

Composition and properties of "Vibrocil"

"Vibrocil" primarily belongs to the category of vasoconstrictor drugs. In addition, it has antihistamine properties, and, accordingly, alleviates the manifestations of not only colds, but also allergic rhinitis. Thanks to the combined composition, Vibrocil has a gentle effect on the tissues of the nasal passages, effectively removing swelling, weakening secretion, but at the same time without drying out the mucous membrane. The drug is indicated in the following cases:

  • Swelling of the nose during acute respiratory infections and acute respiratory viral infections. Facilitation of nasal breathing is facilitated by a small content of phenylephrine, which is safe for use in children of any age.
  • Allergic runny nose. The antihistamine effect is provided by dimethindene.
  • Seasonal allergies. The drug contains two components that provide an antiallergic and vasoconstrictor effect, thanks to which Vibrocil neutralizes the manifestations of hay fever.
  • Sinusitis, polysinusitis and otitis media in acute form . Here the drug is used as an additional measure.
  • Bacterial infections. It is used in conjunction with other medications, increasing their permeability to the affected areas and improving nasal breathing.

In addition to phenylephrine and dimethindene, Vibrocil contains lavender extract, which gives it a mild aroma that makes the drug comfortable for children of any age. And the minimum number of contraindications allows the product to be used by newborns.

Instructions for use (drops, spray, gel)

"Vibrocil" is produced in the form of nasal spray, drops and gel. Each form has the same active ingredients, but is used in different cases.

  • Drops are most often prescribed to children under 6 years of age. The bottle of medicine is equipped with a cap with a pipette. Depending on the patient’s condition, the pediatrician himself determines how many drops to use at a time. But the pharmaceutical manufacturing company recommends the following dosages:
    1. up to one year – 1 drop 3-4 times a day;
    2. from 1 to 6 years – 1-2 drops 3-4 times a day;
    3. from 6 years – 3-4 drops 4-5 times a day.
  • The spray is recommended for children 6 years of age and older, as well as adults. Release form: bottle with dispenser. The dose of the drug is 1-2 sprays into the nose 3-4 times a day. The head should be positioned vertically, and after the procedure you need to slightly draw in air. The advantage of the spray is the precise dosage, achieved by the special design of the bottle tip.
  • The gel is indicated for children over 6 years of age and adults. It is packaged in a tube and, during use, is squeezed out in small quantities into the depths of one and the other nostril in turn. A huge advantage of the gel is the ability to provide the patient with comfortable nasal breathing throughout the night after use before bed.

The drug is allowed to be used for no longer than 7 days, since addiction develops to it, resulting in persistent runny nose(also called medical).

By the way, there are no Vibrocil candles. The manufacturer produces the drug exclusively in the three above forms.

Contraindications

"Vibrocil" has contraindications, namely:

  • allergy to the components it contains;
  • intolerance of the nasal mucosa to drugs;
  • use in conjunction with substances that can inhibit the enzyme monoamine oxidase (some antidepressants and a number of natural components).

"Vibrocil" should not be used independently for certain diseases. Under the mandatory supervision of a doctor, the drug is taken in the following cases:

  • pathologies of the cardiovascular and circulatory systems;
  • thyroid diseases;
  • diabetes;
  • angle-closure glaucoma;
  • acute reactions of the body to medications that constrict blood vessels - nausea, dizziness, sleep disturbances.

Side effects and overdose

From correct application“Vibrocyla” (according to the instructions, no longer than 7 days) in most cases, no violations were noted. Sometimes there is dryness and burning in the nose.

If the dose of the drug was exceeded or the child took the drug orally, no serious consequences were observed. IN similar cases he might be bothered stomach pain, sleep disturbance, depressed and, conversely, excited state. When this happens, it is necessary to ensure that the child drinks plenty of fluids, give activated charcoal or a similar product, and a laxative.

By using antibiotics during ARVI in children, you will soften the course of the disease by an order of magnitude, but it is important to follow the recommendations of your doctor.

"Vibrocil" or "Nazivin"?

Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, and it is impossible to categorically determine which one is better. “Vibrocil” has a milder effect on the mucous membrane and is better accepted by babies. Nazivin acts stronger and faster, but causes more side symptoms, for example, tachycardia, shortness of breath, etc. In addition, you need to strictly monitor the dosage, since there is a risk of damage to the mucosa. The pediatrician should decide which of these medications to prescribe for the child, based on general condition, contraindications and ongoing disease.

The main thing is that if a child develops rhinitis, you must first determine the cause and promptly take necessary measures to its elimination. In the future, this will help to avoid complications and relieve the baby from the inconveniences associated with a runny nose.

Acute rhinitis(including runny nose when colds); allergic rhinitis (including hay fever); vasomotor rhinitis; chronic rhinitis; spicy and chronic sinusitis; acute otitis media (as an auxiliary treatment method). Preparation for surgical interventions in the nose and elimination of swelling of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses after surgical interventions in this area.

Contraindications:

Increased sensitivity to the components of the drug.

Atrophic rhinitis (including with foul-smelling discharge - ozena). Taking MAO inhibitors (simultaneously or in the previous 14 days).

Use with caution in patients with arterial hypertension, arrhythmias, cardiovascular diseases, as well as in patients with generalized atherosclerosis, thyroid diseases, angle-closure glaucoma, adenoma prostate gland, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.

As with the use of any local vasoconstrictor, caution should be exercised when prescribing Vibrocil to patients with severe reactions to sympathomimetics (for example, the development of insomnia and dizziness).

Directions for use and dosage:

Nasal drops(solution for intranasal use).

Adults and children over 6 years old are prescribed 3-4 drops in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day.

Children (from 1 year to 6 years) are prescribed only in the form of nasal drops (1-2 drops in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day).
