It has the properties of a weak alkali and suppresses the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach due to the inhibitory effect on the proton (cellular) pump - this is the name of the biochemical process occurring in the parietal islets of the stomach.

The effect of omeprazole on acid formation is effective because it inhibits not only basal (nighttime) but also stimulated daytime secretion of hydrochloric acid, regardless of the type of food consumed.

This allows you to use Omez for heartburn for any gastrointestinal diseases associated with increased acidity, V gastric juice and (or) with the presence of gastroesophageal reflux as the main cause of this unpleasant symptom. The antisecretory effect of omeprazole occurs within 60 minutes, reaches its maximum after 2 hours and lasts up to 24 hours.

Others important properties are:

  • protection of the mucous membrane;
  • reduction in scarring time ulcerative defects in the stomach or duodenum;

  1. Antisecretory, due to which hydrochloric acid is blocked, and against the background of this, the secretion of gastric juice is reduced and the symptoms of pain disappear over time.
  2. Cytoprotective, protects cells from damage by hydrochloric acid, promoting the healing of ulcers.
  3. Bactericidal helps destroy Helicobacter pylori bacteria and other harmful organisms.

In order to remove Helicobacter bacteria from the body, it is recommended to take a comprehensive approach to treatment and take De-nol together with Omez.

Omez is one of the gentle drugs, the advantages of which include the following features that it provides:

  • reduces the negative effects of antibiotics;
  • does not affect the reaction, therefore it is allowed to be taken by motorists;
  • It is well tolerated by people, so it is allowed to take up to two months. Sometimes the course of therapy is even longer;
  • for the treatment of advanced cases, a medicine has been released in powder form;
  • quickly eliminated from the body;
  • used for the prevention of peptic ulcers.

It was described above how the medication works and its advantages over other medications effective for gastrointestinal diseases.

Forms

The drug is available in two forms: in powder form and in capsules, differing in the amount of active substance. Most often, people are treated with Omez D capsules, which are sold in cartons of 10 pieces. They themselves white, but not transparent with a purple top. One capsule contains 10 mg of omeprazole and domperidone.

Omez capsules contain 20 mg of active substance. The package contains 10 transparent capsules with pink caps. The drug is also available in powder form for injection. One ampoule contains 4 mg of the main substance.

Indications for use

You can treat with this drug for any diseases of the gastrointestinal tract: gastritis, reflux, pancreatitis, erosion, ulcers, pulpitis. Some doctors prescribe it to their patients even for the prevention of diseases. But the dosage may differ depending on the type of diagnosis.

Within an hour after taking the stomach pain subsides, and the drug begins to act on secretory function. Maximum time exposure to the drug for 2 hours. After taking the capsule, the effectiveness remains throughout the day. And even after discontinuation of treatment, the drug has an effect for up to three days.

You need to know that capsules do not dissolve in the human stomach; absorption occurs in the intestines. It is for this reason that the effectiveness of taking the medicine occurs in at least an hour.

Complete recovery of the patient occurs after 2 weeks of taking the drug, provided that all the recommendations of the attending physician have been followed.

Dosage

As mentioned above, the dosage primarily depends on the patient’s condition and his diagnosis. Also quite a lot important role The patient’s age, individual characteristics and the presence of contraindications play a role. If severe diseases develop, the drug should be taken in powder form twice a day, 40 mg for invasive administration.

In order to prepare the medicine for injection, you need to do the following:

  1. Fill a 5 ml syringe with 5% glucose solution.
  2. Add to the bottle with Omez.
  3. Shake the contents well.
  4. Draw the resulting solution into a new syringe.
  5. Add the liquid to a bottle with 100 ml of glucose.
  6. Perform the procedure for intravenous administration of medication.

For a disease such as a pancreatic tumor, the dosage of the drug needs to be increased. It is recommended to administer from 60 to 120 mg per day. One of the common questions is the following: how to drink Omez? The answer to this will be given below.

If a person has a normal course of peptic ulcer or gastritis, then treatment can be carried out in capsules. If we are talking about an ulcer, then it will be enough to take the drug twice a day: morning and evening. The first capsule should be drunk after waking up half an hour before meals, and the second after 20:00 in the evening. After taking the medication in the evening, you should not eat, so you need to have dinner before recovery. You need to take one capsule at a time, washing it down with plenty of water.

The tumor can also be treated with capsules, but then they should be taken three times a day. The allowed dose per day is no more than 120 mg. In order to cure the disease that has arisen, you will have to maintain long-term treatment. It is better to consult a doctor about how many months to continue health therapy.

Important! Capsules can only be swallowed; they are not allowed to be crushed, chewed or dissolved. So the effectiveness of the drug will be 0.

For esophageal reflux, most often the course of such treatment lasts one month and after the start of recovery, improvements occur immediately. The method of using the medication is simple, you need to drink two capsules a day. Most often, with such a diagnosis, the patient is prescribed Omez D, which in addition to Omez also contains Domperidone. Similar treatment relevant for heartburn and dyspepsia. But it is worth knowing that Omez D can inhibit the effectiveness of some antibiotics.

For pancreatitis, Omez can only be used as additional treatment, to prevent stomach ulcers. Also, thanks to treatment with this drug, you can reduce abdominal pain and get rid of unpleasant symptoms. Omez should be taken before meals, otherwise it will not have any effect. therapeutic effect.

As mentioned above, Omez is also effective for the prevention of gastritis, ulcers and other gastrointestinal diseases. In this case, it is recommended to drink 1 capsule without a break before going to bed for no longer than 4 months. But it is not necessary to take the drug for so long; you can only be treated at the peak of an exacerbation of the disease.

But even for prevention, you need to drink Omez for at least one month. It must be borne in mind that taking medication for prevention must be started in advance. For example, if an exacerbation of the disease occurs in the fall, then it is recommended to begin recovery from the end of summer.

Omez, the dosage of which was described above, effective remedy for treatment that is approved for use by children and adults over 12 years of age. You should check with your doctor about other contraindications. In some cases, the dosage of the medication may be reduced.

Instructions for use

In order to cure gastrointestinal diseases, the use of Omez and other drugs that contain omeprazole in the complex will be advisable. It has already been said above that you need to take the medicine before meals. However, if you forget to do this, you can swallow the capsule during breakfast, but not after it. You should not increase the dosage indicated by your doctor on your own, as this can be harmful to your health.

Omez, the active ingredient of which is omeprazole, is effective not only for stomach diseases. It is also prescribed for unpleasant symptoms illnesses: belching, heartburn, abdominal pain. Maximum efficiency the drug begins on the fourth day of treatment with Omez. The article talked about how people take omez: before or after meals.

Advice! If for some reason you missed the time of taking the drug, there is no need to restore it, it is recommended to continue treatment, remembering that it can be treated before meals.

The course of treatment with the drug can last from two weeks to two months. Most often, the daily dosage does not exceed 40 mg, but in some cases this dose amount can be increased to 60 mg. But even when the patient has completed therapy with Omez, doctors recommend continuing to take it as a preventive measure, taking 1 capsule per day. However, you should not treat them constantly; after the course of treatment you need to take a break.

Many people, when treating with this medication, wonder whether it is possible to take the drug with other medications. It is possible and even necessary to carry out complex therapy. However, only a doctor should select treatment based on the combination of drugs different groups.

In order to find out how long you can take Omez, you need to consult a doctor, since it all depends on individual characteristics and body structure. But, as a rule, the course of treatment does not exceed 2 months.

Indications for use:
Erosive-ulcerative esophagitis,
· peptic ulcers of the stomach and duodenum,
· ulcerative process in the stomach or duodenum, potentiated by taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
stress ulcer
· recurrent peptic ulcers of the gastric or duodenal localization with a tendency to develop complications (anti-relapse therapy),
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome,
· as part of complex Helicobacter pylori eradication schemes,
· pancreatitis,
gastroesophageal reflux disease (anti-relapse therapy),
· systemic mastocytosis.

If oral administration is not possible or to achieve a quick effect, intravenous administration of omez is used.

Pharmachologic effect:
Omez is an antiulcer agent from the group of proton pump inhibitors. The active ingredient of the product is omeprazole. Omeprazole inhibits stimulated and basal secretion of hydrochloric acid due to specific impact on the enzyme H+/K+-ATPase of parietal cells of the stomach. After internal use, the effect of omeprazole develops quickly within 60 minutes. The effect of the product lasts 24 hours. After discontinuation of omeprazole, restoration of the secretory activity of the exocrine glands of the stomach occurs after 3-5 days. Omeprazole is absorbed quickly from the intestine.

The product contains omez active substance is contained in acid-resistant granules, so the dissolution of the granules is observed only in the intestines. The maximum concentration of the product in the blood plasma is observed after 30-60 minutes. The bioavailability of omeprazole is 40%. 90% of the product binds to plasma proteins. Clearance is 500–600 ml/min. Metabolism of omeprazole occurs in the liver. Eliminated by the kidneys (approximately 80%). Main way metabolism is associated with the enzyme CYP 2C19 - a polymorphic specific isoform (S-mephenyl-thiol-hydroxylase). The main metabolite of the product is hydroxyomeprazole (detected in blood plasma).

In persons with chronic diseases liver with insufficient liver function, the bioavailability of omeza increases to 100%, clearance decreases to 70 ml/min, and the half-life increases to 3 hours. In case of renal failure, the distribution of omeza does not differ from that in healthy volunteers (with a creatinine clearance of 10–62 ml/min). Considering that omeprazole is excreted from the body by the kidneys, then when renal failure Elimination of the product will decrease in direct proportion to creatinine clearance. In elderly people, reduced elimination of omeza is observed with increased bioavailability.

Intravenous administration of omeprazole is accompanied by dose-dependent inhibition of gastric secretion. When intravenous use omeprazole at a dosage of 40 mg, a rapid decrease in secretion of the gastric mucosa is observed, similar to repeated oral administration of the product at a dosage of 20 mg. The degree of inhibition of gastric secretion is approximately 90% throughout the day as in the case intravenous infusion, and with bolus administration of the product. The average half-life of omeprazole following intravenous administration is approximately 40 minutes with a total plasma clearance of 0.3–0.6 L/min.

Omez method of application and dosage:
Intravenous administration for adults with gastroesophageal reflux disease or peptic ulcer of gastric/duodenal localization, it is prescribed as an infusion at a dosage of 40 mg/day. For Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, the initial dosage of omeprazole is 60 mg/day, but more may be prescribed high dose. If the dose of omeprazole per day is more than 60 mg, it can be divided into 2 infusions. For peptic ulcers complicated by bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, the initial dose of omez is 80 mg/day intravenously (at a rate of 8 mg/hour). Later (from the 3rd to the 21st day) they switch to internal administration of omez at 20 mg/day.

In case of impaired renal function and in gerontological patients, dosage adjustment is not required. In liver failure the greatest daily dose Omeza should be 10-20 mg. The drug for intravenous infusion - omez 40 - is administered over 20-30 minutes. The contents of one bottle should be dissolved in 5% dextrose solution for infusion or 0.9% sodium chloride solution in an amount of 100 ml. The prepared solution is suitable for use throughout the day.

Oral administration of omez. Capsules are taken orally whole: do not chew or break. For reflux esophagitis, peptic ulcer of gastric or duodenal localization, use a dose of 20 mg/day before the morning meal. The course of treatment is 14 days. In case of insufficient therapeutic effect(scarring of the peptic ulcer did not occur) during 2 weeks of treatment, therapy is continued for another 14 days (or until complete scarring). Typically, a peptic ulcer of the duodenum when treated with omez (40 mg/day) heals after 4 weeks, a gastric ulcer or erosive reflux esophagitis is cured after 8 weeks.

For Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, omez is prescribed orally at 60 mg/day. The duration of treatment depends on clinical picture diseases. The maintenance dosage is 20-120 mg/day, which is set at individually doctor. When prescribing omez at a dose greater than 80 mg/day, its dose is divided into 2 applications.
Omez reduces to standard international protocol on eradication of Helicobacter pylori. In case of Helicobacter pylori infection, treatment is carried out according to this protocol.

Omez contraindications:
Allergic reactions to omeprazole or other components of omeza.

Omez side effects:
From the nervous system: dizziness, excessive sweating, headache, agitation, drowsiness, paresthesia, insomnia, blurred vision, hallucinations and depression in patients predisposed to them.
From the gastrointestinal system: abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, stomatitis, dry mouth, taste disturbance, temporary increase in transaminase activity and liver tests.
From the outside musculoskeletal system: myalgia, muscle weakness, arthralgia.
Hypersensitivity reactions: urticaria, rash, erythema multiforme.
Others: fever, peripheral edema.

Pregnancy:
Omez is contraindicated for use in pregnant women and breastfeeding women.

Overdose:
A specific antidote is unknown. Exceeding the dose by 160 mg did not lead to symptoms that would threaten the patient's life.

Use with other medications:
Metabolism of the product occurs in hepatocytes with the participation of the cytochrome P450 enzyme system, as a result of which it is prescribed with caution in combination with phenytoin, diazepam, warfarin. With such combinations, omeprazole slows down the elimination of these drugs, which requires a reduction in their dosage.
A combined increase in plasma concentrations of clarithromycin and omeprazole was detected when they were used together.

Release form:
Omez - capsules of 20 mg omeprazole. There are 10 or 30 capsules in a box. Capsules are hard, gelatinous, transparent. The lid is pink, the body is colorless. On both sides of the capsule is the inscription “OMEZ”. The contents of the capsule are almost white or white granules.
Omez 40 is a lyophilized powder for the preparation of a solution for infusion. The bottle contains 40 mg of omeprazole.

Storage conditions:
In a place protected from light and moisture at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.

Omez composition:
Omez capsules
Active substance: omeprazole.
Others: sodium lauryl sulfate, dibasic sodium phosphate, sucrose, purified water.

Lyophilized powder for the preparation of solution for infusion
Active substance: omeprazole.
